Seven Years...

Seven years ago...
(October 1, 2000)
Five days after I turned fifteen
(Funny how I don't remember my birthday from that year, but this instead...
Ninth grade, for crying in a bucket!!!)
I did something really stupid.
Those of you who knew me then know what I mean--some of you who know me now have a pretty good idea.

That's the thing with stupid actions--
Once is never, ever enough.

So here's my math for you, Mrs. X:
365 days multiplied by 7 years
(Plus 1 for a leap year...when was that...2004?)
2,556 days
(And about as many offenses of my crime)
Since I first did the one thing that you never figured out--
The funny thing is, I saw you that day.
Not in your office, since I wasn't in trouble yet
But in the school hallway...we both said hello...and I probably smirked.
And what's funny is that I knew, even then
What I was going to do...
I just thought that a few times would be enough.
They weren't.
...Sorry.

NOTE TO SELF AND OTHER PEOPLE:
This isn't a poem. Forgive me, my caffeine just wore off, and I'm no longer capable of composing actual complete sentences...I'm looking at my 32-ounce Kum & Go coffee mug and thinking it needs a refill. I thought I'd have time to finish screwing around on the Internet before the emptiness of that mug would cause a problem. Gonna get offline now...and I'm going to do that same stupid thing again today, too.

I have the world's lamest seven-year anniversary to celebrate!
Have a great day!
